Jewelry care
Plated jewelry lasts far longer with a few easy habits. Here's the routine we recommend.
Last on, first off
Put your jewelry on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off first at the end of the day. Cosmetics and alcohol-based products are the main cause of dulling.
Keep it dry
Remove pieces before showering, swimming, saunas and workouts. Water, chlorine, salt and sweat all wear plating down faster.
Cleaning
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Skip jewelry dips, ultrasonic cleaners, toothpaste and abrasive polishes — they strip plating.
Storage
Store each piece separately in its pouch or a lined box, away from heat and humidity. Keeping chains flat and unclasped prevents tangles and kinks.
Layering
When stacking chains, vary lengths so they sit on different points and rub against each other less.
